Reece Hudson is a designer handbag collection founded by designer Reece Solomon and business partner Max Stein in 2009. Aiming to bridge the gap between luxury products and street style, Reece Hudson combines strong design sensibilities with the highest quality materials and construction.

Developed on the wholesale model, and selling to stores such as Barneys New York and Bergdorf Goodman, in 2013 we launched our first direct to consumer channel with a re-launch of to now include e-commerce. As a participant in the Council of Fashion Designers of America's {Fashion Incubator} program we were introduced to Shopify with a complimentary membership.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Our website business has been quite organic. Most of our customers have found us either by searching for the brand or reading about us in traditional fashion media, both in print and online.

We receive a lot of traffic from top fashion websites like Who What Wear and Man Repeller. Our year one return rate was under 2%. We are just starting to explore investing money in digital marketing.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

We currently only use one ap, Orderly Print. We currently ship all of our orders our of our New York City offices using UPS (free Ground shipping in the USA). We are currently considering transferring our shipping to a third party warehouse.

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

Make sure you have a wide variety of product available. When people come looking for your brand they want options.

Make sure your packaging represents your brand and provides the experience that you think a customer would expect if you had a physical store. Also, if you also work on the wholesale model use your e-commerce website to feature unique and exclusive product.
