Bone Broths Co.

Introduce your business and tell us your story: How did you decide on what to sell, and how did you source your products?

When I was a senior in high school, I suffered a horrible knee injury while playing soccer. I needed reconstructive surgery and was on crutches for the longest time. Not being able to exercise, I started to really focus on what I was eating and putting into my body. This is when I stumbled across bone broth and all of its healing properties...but no one was selling it! So I decided I might as well start a bone broth company and start selling it myself.

After calling 500+ co-packers and being turned down by all of them, I was extremely discouraged and started wondering if I could ever get this off of the ground. It was then, and still have no idea why, that I emailed Mark Cuban explaining the opportunity at hand. He responded and put me in touch with one of his partners who helped us find our co-packer. To this day, we still work with the co-packer and they've been absolutely amazing.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Google Ads and word of mouth. We've been fortunate enough to work with some awesome people in the health space who have run affiliate deals with us. We're working on moving into retail and have some exciting things happening with that real soon!

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

Shipwire for sure. I don't even have to worry about whether or not our customers get their orders because Shipwire is just so amazing and easy to work with. Definitely the company to use if you're needing to ship a physical product.

What are your top recommendations for new store owners?

Email list. Growing your email list should be one of your top priorities. Every time we send an email to our list, we can expect to do $10-15k just that day. It's imperative that you grow your email list because it's much easier to take someone from lead to buyer through your email list than someone who just landed on your site.
