ShoeMe grows alongside Shopify
Sean Clark used to work for Clearly Contacts as Australia and New Zealand’s head of ecommerce. When he left the company in January 2012, he decided to take his skills and launch a business using Shopify. ShoeMe.ca, an online shoe retailer, is now a multi-million dollar company and one of the first members of Plus by Shopify.
I was in the market for BigCommerce, Volusion, Magento, but I think it was the support that made me choose Shopify. I began playing with my Shopify store, leveraging images, iterating, learning (Adobe) Photoshop. Whenever I called the Shopify support line, they knew who I was. There’s always someone there to help.
We started from a standstill and grew to a run rate of $200,000 in 15 months. Now we have over 130 brands and 2,500 products.
Shopify IS our backend! We use it for order management, customer accounts management, reporting, product launching and merchandise. We basically use every feature. We’ve leveraged Shopify’s API as well as Purolator’s API to build a custom app that helps manage order fulfillment and shipping. We have also built other custom solutions which leverage Shopify’s API in combination with our payment gateway.
I thought we’d grow out of Shopify, but now that you’re offering Plus, it’s obvious that Shopify is growing as well.
I thought we’d grow out of Shopify, but now that you’re offering Plus, it’s obvious that Shopify is growing as well. If Shopify can keep it going, keep the support and grow with us, then there’s no reason to switch because we’ve got a great relationship with Shopify and to me that’s the most important thing.
Proud to be on Shopify
I’m proud. I’m the biggest prophet. I tell everybody I’m on a Shopify store. Things are going very well, we’re very optimistic, and we couldn’t do it without Shopify.
